Funding for young British composers; how to find inspiration
Creativity Digest: 4th March 2025
Hello dear readers!
Occasionally I send out a Creativity Digest of useful and interesting links.
I’ve had many new subscribers since the last digest, so this is the first that many of you will receive. I hope you find it useful.
If you’re a new subscriber, please take 2 minutes to answer the 3 questions in my survey of new subscribers. This will help me make the site more relevant to your needs.
Now for the links!
In the Making
Sound & Music, a UK based youth music organisation, recently published details of a year-long artist development programme for talented young music creators and composers aged 14-18.
Finding inspiration #1
My friend, composer Simeon Walker published a fascinating exploration of how he composes to commission.
Finding inspiration #2
The Sound and Creativity Substack, written by Hermes, published some insightful thoughts about creativity & originality, plus a creative methodology based on the concept of curation. I agree; indeed, I use three of the five methods he proposes.
Thanks for the mention Garreth. Appreciate your work and what you're doing for composers. Cheers!
